Abstract:

Investigations of animals genome have become an important element of animal biotechnology. Atpresent, the main goal is to localize in karyotypes as many markers as possible. The most efficient methodof gene mapping is in situ hybridization between chromosome preparations and DNA probes. The greatesteffort in gene mapping has been made in the case of cattle and swine. The bovine gene map consist of237 loci. Among them 32 have got chromosomal assignments. The swine gene map consist of 82 loci with28 chromosomally assigned.
