W Bułgarii, podobnie jak i w innych krajach występują formy przejściowe między Apodemus sylvaticus (Linnaeus 1758) a Apodemus flavicollis (Melchior 1834). Autorzy przebadali 214 okazów A. sylvaticus pochodzących z 9 populacji (patrz mapa - Ryc. 1) pod kątem różnic w niektórych wymiarach czaszki (dł Cb., szerokość jarzmowa) i ciała (długość tylnej stopy) uważanych powszechnie za cechy diagnostyczne dla tego gatunku.
