Abstract:

Histological diagnosis: encephalomacia recens hemisphaerii dex. Arteriosclerosis gradu mediocri. Autopsy examination of 42-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with H-E, PAS and Van Gieson's method. In the cortex, a fresh focus of malacia was found in the right orbital bend. This focus was in the phase of leukocyte influx and early macrophage dissection. The vessels were filled maximally with blood. Single blood cells were present outside the vessels. The tissue in this region stained less well. The layered structure of the cortex was clearly obliterated. Single highly altered cells were observed. In the white matter cortex, cellular detritus was present in some areas. The whole glia was stimulated.
