Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, cresyl-violet, Holzer, Heidenhain and Van Gieson's method.A hemorrhagic focus surrounded by a malacia field was found within the white matter of the left parietal lobe. The softening lesion progressed to the adjacent ventricle. The extravasated blood was also present in the subarachnoid space.
