W Bułgarii, obrączkowanie nietoperzy rozpoczął 5.X.1940 Dr Buresch, który w okresie 1940-1943 zaobrączkował 147 okazów, należących do 5 gatunków. II okres obrączkowania przypadał na lata 1948-1949 (158 okazów z 4 gatunków). Systematyczne prace w tym kierunku rozpoczęto od roku 1955. Do 31.XII.1961 zaobrączkowano 2991 osobników należących do 13 gatunków (Tabela 1). Używano pbrączek ptasich 3 rozmiarów z napisem "ZOO Sofia" lub "ZOO Sofia Bulgaria".
