Description:

The photo depicts a man with a fashionably curled-up, manicured moustache. The man is dressed in a jacket, a white shirt and a dark bow tie. The photo - "a bust type" - was taken in a photographic studio. According to the photo's owner, it depicts her grandfather who was born on 26 December 1873. He got married in 1903 and settled in Smoląg near Starogard Gdański. Two years after the wedding he worked in Berlin and this is where the photo was taken, that is in 1905. The grandfather was called Jan (...) and his wife Teofila (...) ; 1905, Berlin (Germany) ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
