Description:

The photo depicts an elderly woman in a dark dress with a collar and a young boy sitting on the back of her chair and holding his hand on the woman's arm. The boy is wearing a jacket and short trousers; he is holding a dark hat - a beret - in his hand. According to the photo's owner, it depicts her father Franciszek with his mother Anastazja (...). The photo was taken in 1944 in Kartuzy (Gdańsk voivodeship) by a local photographer. These people lived in the village of Zgorzałe, Gdańsk voivodeship ; 1944, Zgorzałe / Kartuzy, voiv. gdańskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
