Description:

The photo depicts a large group of women and men in folk costumes posing for the camera in several rows. Sitting in the second row from the bottom, in the middle, there are three men and woman between them. Most probably these are the event organizers. On the back of the photo there is the following inscription: "Grunwald celebrations held in Mikołajowice, July 1910. Organized by Helena (...) teacher, Ignacy (...) philosophy student at the Lviv University. (on the teacher's right side), Tomasz (...) a post officer (on the teacher's left)...". The rest is illegible. According to the photo's owner, it depicts participants of the 500th Anniversary of the Grunwald (the Tannenberg battle) victory. These celebrations were organized by a teacher from the local primary school - Helena (...) and Ignacy (...) - philosophy student, Tomasz (...) - post officer, his brother - law student at the Jagiellonian University - all came from Mikołajowice ; July 1910, Mikołajowice, district Tarnów, voiv. małopolskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
