[The newlyweds] [An iconographic document]
Creator: Description:The photo depicts a woman and a man in festive clothes - most probably newlyweds. The man is dressed in a frock-coat and has a rosette pinned to the lapel of his jacket. The woman is sitting in a chair, she is dressed in a blouse of a traditional Silesian cut with puffed sleeves and a long skirt. She has a holly medallion (?) fastened with a ribbon around her neck, a flower garland on her head, and a prayer book in one hand. The photo was taken in the photographic studio; in the background there is a photo wallpaper. Underneath the photo there is the studio's stamp saying: "Otto Schwittag, Rybnik u. Loslau” ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
