To determine the influence of cold and reduced food supply on the fat content of montane voles Microtus montanus nanus (Merriam, 1891) a number of these animals were exposed under controlled laboratory conditions of eight combinations of ambient temperature and food availability (ad libitum, maintenance and one-half maintenance rations, and atarvation at 5°C and 26°C).
