[The Voluntary Fire Department in Leśna] [An iconographic document]
Date issued/created: Description:The photo depicts a group of men in the voluntary fire department uniforms, and with hats or firemen helmets on their heads. In the back row there is a group of women in white blouses; between the rows of firemen there is a banner held by them. The photo was taken outdoors. Underneath the photo there is an inscription saying: "Blessing of the Banner of the Voluntary Fire Department in Leśna 1925". According to the photo's owner, it depicts the celebratory photograph taken on the occasion of blessing of the Voluntary Fire Department' banner in 1925 in Leśna near Żywiec, Bielsko-Biała voivodeship. Standing in the last row there are women from the farmers’ wives association. In the first row, on the ground, there are, among others, the trumpet player and next to him - the school head teacher. Among the people in the photo there is the photo’s owner's father-in-law, who was shot in 1943 in the eve of the Christmas Day in front of his own house because he belonged to the resistance movement ; 1925, Leśna near Żywiec, voiv. bielskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
