Description:

The photo depicts three men, two women, a young girl, two small girls and a goat standing in a field. The men are holding farm tools - a scythe and tools for collecting reaped crops. The women are dressed in work aprons and have headscarves wrapped around their heads. The men are in work clothes and hats. In the foreground there is a goat. There are fields of corn in the background. According to the photo's owner, it depicts a harvest that took place in 1942 on a filed that belonged to a German in the village of Dziekanowice, to which the photo owner's grandparents had been re-settled form the village of Łubowo; their farm was taken over by the Germans. The goat which can be seen in the photo was the only feeder for the family of the photo’s owner's grandmother during the occupation, it particularly helped to feed grandmother and grandfather's daughters - one of them was her mother Krystyna ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
