Object description:

Photo (scan from slide). The photo shows a kind of traditional tribal shrine dedicated to the main guardian goddess of the Waghri tribe. Waghri means a female tiger. In the center there is a stone plate with a painted image of a tiger. In front of the image, colored chalk squares representing the goddess. There is also a hole for lamps in front of the image. Stones on the right. The image of the tiger is painted with paint. Everything is located in the center of the village under a roof. The patron goddess is the main deity of the tribe. The most important tribal ceremonies take place here. The village of Kalambipada lies in the monsoon zone, hence the predominance of rich vegetation and flora, and the fields are flooded with water. Photo taken in the dry season.
