Date issued/created:

Description:

Studies were carried out during the winter seasons of 1979-1982 in urban areas 228 km2 in extent. A total of 2,393 bats belonging to 8 species, the most numerous of which proved to be M. myotis, were found to hibernate. There was considerable variation in the value of the index of species diversity for different shelters, due to differences in the dimensions of such hibernating places, the number of shelters available, and the variety of microclimatic conditions there.
