Description:

Characteristics of white-footed mice, Peromyscus leucopus (Rafinesque, 1818) inhabiting a woodland and an adjacent grassland in eastern Massachusetts (USA) were compared. Mice occurred predominantly in the woodland. The occurrence of mice in the grassland was unrelated to potential competitors, but was instead related to the density of Peromyscus.
