Abstract:

The present monograph is devoted to the early years of the Hussite revolution in Bohemia (after the events of circa mid-1420s). This chronological limit applies in particular to the first part of the book (“Events and Phenomena”), whereas the reflections presented in the second part (“Phenomena and Problems”) often extend beyond this chronological scope. In his Introduction, the author indicates the key concepts present in Hussite programs and religious propaganda (the Truth of God, Law of God, etc.) and the vital terms related to the structures of Hussite movement. He also brings up the question of participation and role of particular social strata in the Hussite revolution. Finally, there is a presentation of the most important source material used as the basis for the research, with the list of main publications on the subject.
