Abstract:

The paper analyzes the development of equestrian tourism in the Podlaskie voivodeship. This voivodeship has particularly good conditions for the organization of such type of activity and for conducting research owing to the presence of large number of horses on its territory. Horses are still used here by farmers for work in the fields and for transport. However, various horse-riding centers and clubs are being also established in the region. Some of them offer hippo-therapy. Equestrian tourism is the only discipline of qualified tourism in which two beings take part – a human and a horse. A horse has also become an inspiration and a rewarding topic for many painters, writers and sculptors.
