Title: Na drodze do misji życia. Kariera wojskowa Hansa Hartwiga von Beselera przed I wojną światową

Abstract:

The text aims to present the most important aspects of the military career of Colonel General Hans Hartwig von Beseler before the First World War. In historiography, his figure is usually perceived through the prism of the titular mission of a lifetime: to serve as the General Governor of Warsaw from 1915 to 1918. This perspective misses key factors related to the organisational culture of the German army, to which Beseler was subjected during the decades of his service, which also influenced his views on the role of the Kingdom of Poland as an element of the future German security system in the East.
