Abstract:
The study summarizes research work carried out between 2018 and 2024 by a team of several dozen specialists as part of the program “Trails of Independent Poland” financed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. The research subject was education, learning, care and upbringing in the Kingdom of Poland and the so-called Borderlands (Kresy) in the Russian partition at the beginning of the 20th century. The analysis covered the situation of school education, extracurricular education, care and upbringing, but also the forms of popularizing knowledge and the importance of these activities in the process of social modernization and building a modern national identity and civic attitudes.
