Description:

The photo depicts a group of several dozen girls and boys posing for the camera on the day of their First Communion. All children are dressed in white festive first communion outfits – the girls are in dresses and have flower garlands on their heads; the boys are in dark suits and white shirts. All children are holding candles in their hands. The photo was taken outdoors. In the second row, in the middle, there are sitting priests. On the back of the photo there is the following inscription: "Taken in 1936 on 26 August in Gorzkowo; depicts Władysława (...) with friends making their communion" ; 26th August 1936, Gorzków ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
