Description:

The photo depicts eight people posing for the camera outdoors. They are all dressed in elegant period outfits. Standing from the left there are: an elderly man with curled up moustache, wearing a white shirt, dark suit and a peaked cap, with a coat hanging over his arm; next to him there is a young man in a bright hat, with a cigarette in his mouth – they are both holding walking sticks in their hands. Standing in the middle there are three young women in bright embroidered blouses (each women in a different one) and long skirts. Next to them there is a young man in a bowler hat with a walking stick in his hand; he is dressed in a white shirt with a dark bow tie and a dark suit. On his left (and first from the right) there is a man with a guitar in his hands, dressed in a suit and a bright hat, whit a coat hanging on his arm. In font of these men, there is a girl sitting on grass, dressed in a white frock; she has white bows tied in her hair and there is a small dog at her knees. There is forest/ park (?) greenery in the distance. According to the photo's owner, it depicts family (...) from Miszki near Karsin in Gdańsk voivodeship ; 1912, Miszk, com. Karsin, voiv. gdańskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
