[A family portrait] [An iconographic document]

Description:

The photo depicts a young woman, a young man and a small boy. The woman and the boy are sitting in chairs; the man is standing behind the boy. The photo was taken in a photographic studio. The woman is dressed in a white blouse, a dark skirt and high laced boots; the man is in a Russian-style white shirt tied with a belt -"rubaszka"; the boy is dressed in a shirt and short trousers. What draws attention is the fact that he has no shoes and has bare feet. The boy is holding a book in his hand. According to the photo's owner, it comes from the area of Ukraine and depicts her grandmother's family. At the back there is an inscription in Russian: "[Posyłaju Wam na wiecznuju pamjat]" (rest illegible) ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
