Photography (scan from a slide). Fragment of a tribal feast of Bhils dedicated to the goddess Gauri. Festival lasts for about 40 days and takes place during the rainy season. Every day a group of men from the tribe dancing in the next village. Culminating holiday in this region is in the suburbs of Udaipur and there are a few hours of dancing and playing a scene from tribal mythology, the most of them connected with life of a deity Rai Budiya. At the end of the procession holy figure of the goddess Gauri is thrown into the water. In the picture one of the actors-participants in the ceremony. In the foreground a group of actors plays a scene from mythology Bhils - one of them plays a hunter on the hunting, here he is standing on the back of other actors. In his hand he holds a sword, adorned in green leaves. In the background you can see the audience - women sitting around a designated space as a stage
