Description:

Photography (scan from a slide). The photo shows the altar of the temple of Vachchada dada before the sacrifice from a goat. On the altar you can see fragments of images of deities presented in the form of a rider on horseback. Before the altar is burning fire, there are lying metal bowls for sacrifice, and a metal chain used during trance dances. Sitting elderly man in a red turban, a medium (bhopa) responsible for the ritual. Picture was taken during the rites of Vachchada Dada, which is in Bhujodi at night. Participants gather around the shrine lies on the outskirts of the village - men sit on the shrine, singing and playing drums, falling into a trance, dance, and a woman are sitting on the ground all around. The ritual lasts all night - from dusk to dawn. The ceremony takes place in the month of Maghser Sud, first Monday
