Description:

Photography (scan from a slide). The photo shows participants of nocturnal rituals during the annual feast of Lodai . Organized by kachchi rabari , but also take part in it dheberiya rabari . Inside the temple there is a small image of the goddess , to the left you can see carvings of other deities painted in red. On the wall of the temple camel painted in red ocher and some fabric that hangs over the entrance ( torana ) . In the foreground you can see a man in a black-purple turban ( kachchi ) , and next to him woman in red and orange veil . On the left side of the building is a statue of Hanuman , the god in the form of a monkey. Picture was taken during the festival of Mommai Mata, which is made at night near the town of Lodai . Participants gather around the shrine which lies on the outskirts of the village - men sit on the shrine , singing and playing drums , falling into a trance, dance , and a woman sitting on the ground all around. The ritual lasts all night - from dusk to dawn. The ceremony takes place in the month of Chaitra Sud 7
