Description:

The photograph shows a girl with a thick braid posing for a picture at a tall, white table, against the background of a painted wall / a screen showing a country road. On the right side of the photo you can see a dummy of a birch. The girl is wearing a long dress with a higher waist and a pleated skirt and a white collar. She has high lace-up shoes on her feet. The girl rests his elbows on the table and her folded hands are applied to her left cheek ; According to the account of the owner of a photo it shows her mother when she was 15 years old ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
