Opis:

The photo shows a young man with hollow eyes dressed in a thick, woolly winter coat or a jacket with a fur collar ; According to the owner of the photo, it represents his grandfather Stanisław (...) (1900-1974) in 1939. It was taken in a photographer’s workshop in Zgierz. The photo comes from his German war-time identity card (kenkarta), which is shown by the stamp that is visible on it ; 1939, Zgierz ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
