The photo shows Ostrobramska Street that leads up to the Ostra Brama (Gate of Dawn) in Vilnius packed full of people. In the foreground among the faithful a priest is visible in a white surplice. Around and behind him a few hundred people of various ages are standing: from elderly woman in headscarfs to scouts in their uniforms. The crowd stretches all the way to Ostra Brama, above which the windows of a chapel can be seen ; According to the owner of the photo, it shows a pilgrimage to Vilnius by the parish of Boguty-Pianki in 1937. The organiser of this and many other pilgrimages was Józef (...) (...-1982 Sokolec), a prisoner of the concentration camp Dachau. ; 1937, Vilnius ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
