An elderly woman and a couple against the background of a country cottage.The photo shows an elderly woman in a long black dress and a headscarf on her head sitting on a chair in the garden in front of a house between a young man and woman. The woman has back-combed short blonde hair and is dressed in a dark dress with a yoke tied at her waist. The man is wearing dark suit and a shirt. The photo was taken in front of a whitewashed country hut against a background of foliage and tall-growing flowers. The roof is covered in shingles and the window frames are painted in a dark colour ; According to the owner of the photo, it shows his great-grandmother sitting down and his newly-wed grandparents standing on either side of her. In the background the donor’s old house is visible ; The photo was taken in 1944, towards the end of the war, to celebrate his grandparents’ marriage ; 1944, a village Kocina, Mszczonów district, Kielce voivodeship ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
