Abstract:

Każda nowa próba datowania ostróg haczykowatych, ze względu na daleko idące konsekwencje dla charakterystyki początków kultury Słowian, wzbudza zrozumiałe zainteresowanie. Przy określaniu momentu pojawienia się okazów słowiańskich (ok. 700 r.) punktem wyjścia była dla autora przede wszystkim ornamentyka, w istocie merowińska, niskich okazów z VIII w. oraz ich współwystępowanie z późnoawarskimi brązami, Dalszy rozwój i w konsekwencji datowanie zależą głównie od miejsca wytwarzania, a ściślej od kontaktów tego obszaru z kulturą karolińską z przełomu VIII i IX wieku
