Abstract:
Like in the first volume of my monograph (Warsaw 2011), also in this my book I present the content in two parts: chronological one (Events and Phenomena) and problem one (Phenomena and Problems). The present volume concerns the history of the Hussite revolution in the period from the death of Jan Žižka (1424) to the mid-1430s, when the revolution was coming to its end. The main collective heroes of the book remain radical Hussite communities, the driving forces of the revolution: the Taborites and the Orebites, that is the followers of the Hussites in Eastern Bohemia, who after the death of their grand hetman began to call themselves the Orphans (orphani, sirotci). Of course, in the discussed events participated also Praguers and their adherents, fighting either at the side of their radical brotherhoods, or against them. The main opponents of radical brotherhoods and their armies were still the forces of the Bohemian Catholic camp and foreign, mainly German, interventionists. There would also grow a new powerful force: a coalition of the Hussite Right with the nobility and Catholic towns.
