Abstract:Lectures held at the Symposium organized on the 22nd of May 2015 at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and the discussion afterwards show the great importance of trade routes: Silk Road, Dnieper Road, Volga Road and the Transcontinental Road for the development of glass production and the exchange of glass wares in Central and Eastern Europe during the Early Middle Ages. The Symposium could only signalize these issues and draw the attention to the need of research on the topic.
