Abstract:This paper presents results so far obtained by research on the biology and dynamics of a population of Dreissensia polymorpha Pall. in the Szczecin Lagoon. Density of individuals of this species of molluscs was found to be very great on the sides of sandbanks. The part played by D. polymorpha in the process of covering the bottom of the lagoon was defined and partially estimated.
