Abstract:

Comparison was made of quantitative estimates of entomocenoses obtained in grassy and cultivated habitats by means of three different sampling techniques: an entomological net, a photo-eclector and a biocenometer combined with a suckingapparatus. The best results in ascertaining the abundance of insects are obtained by means of a biocenometer, but it was found that when the latter is combined with the entomological net sampling technique the scope of ecological investigations of insects is greatly extended.
