Abstract:

The mean biomass in two summer months for the layers: epi-plus metalimnion was 0.71 for Mikołajskie Lake, and 0.39 g/m3 for lake Tałtowisko, and the production was 4.00 and 3.13 g/m3, respectively. The daily food ration in Mikołajskie Lake was 30% of body weight of an L. kindtii individual, and 40 % in lake Tałtowisko. The pressure of this predator on its food (filtrating cladocerans) is great; in lake Tałtowisko L. kindtii eliminated almost 50% of the Cladocera production in summer months.
