Abstract:

Positive correlation in the distribution of the invertebrate predators and their prey was stated. The biomass of main predators slightly exceeded the biomass of their prey. Selectivity of the prey and daily food rations of predators (equalling 8-19% of predators' biomass) in situ were estimated by the method of "experimental cylinders". Predators feeding strongly depended on the presence of other predators of the same and other species, and decreased with their increasing density. The strong pressure of predators suggests either very short turnover time of their prey, or the immigration of the prey from other environments.
