The photo shows a fire brigades competition in a large square in a city. There are visible three fire engines and estreched water hoses. A crowd of people are around the place. Spectators are also in the windows and on balconies, a few also on the roof. In the foregroundthere are men in uniforms, both typical fire brigade uniforms with helmets and ones military-like. As described by the photo owner this was a fire brigades contest in Sieradz. The Voluntary Fire Brigade from the Starcy Village took part in this competition. It was the oldest fire brigade of the voivodeship. Summer 1925, Sieradz ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
