Abstract:

Blood gas contents and acid-base equilibrium were examined in dogs with experimentally induced peritonitis and paralytic intestinal occlusion. The examined dogs were in the conditio of compensated metabolic acidosis. Inflation of the in¬testine with CO2 resulted in a rapid increase of the acidosis.
