Description:

During the study period (1973-1980) variations were found in population density from 20.8 individuals per 100 ha to 10.4/100 ha. The most important cause of variations in numbers consisted in winter weather conditions. The roe deer Capreolus capreolus (Linnaeus, 1758) preferred the parts of tree stands in which the coniferous species Pinus silvestris predominated (average 16.1 individuals per 100 ha), to tree stands in which Quercus sessilis predominated (14.1 individuals/100 ha).
