Type of object: Abstract:The Kyoto Protocol tackles the problem of greenhouse gases emission into the atmosphere but does not consider the issue of uncertainty in a proper way. The introduction of uncertainty of the reported emissions is essential in order to assure effectivity of the Protocol's mechanisms. This paper presents an economic model which allows for optimisation of the emission reduction, the uncertainty reduction and the traded amount of permits, depending on the costs of each of these actions.
