They exhibit highactivity and catalytic efficiency at low and moderate temperatures, which results fromthe elevated flexibility oftheir molecules. Structural differences between psychrophilic enzymes and their counterparts originating from mesophiles and other organismsare rather subtle and do not involve changes of molecular catalytic mechanisms.
