Xylogenesis was observed in the morphogenic and nonmorphogenic calluses. The light microscopy was used for a histological study. The ultrastructure of the calluses was analysed using the JEM 100 B transmission electron microscope. Tracheary elements were formed in all studied kinds of calluses. They had lignified spiral or reticulate thickening of cell walls. In nonmorphogenic calluses, tracheary elements were chaotically dispersed. In morphogenic callus, the vessel system during caulo- and rhizogenesis from tracheary elements was formed. The application of TEM allowed for an observation of the very early stages of formation of tracheary elements which were initiated by the degeneration of cell protoplast and transformation of cell wall. Tracheogenesis has been already studied in callus culture. However, rarely the authors were concerned on the phenomenon of the ultrastructure level.
Yeast S.cerevisiae plays an important role of a host for heterologous gene expression andprotein secretion. High-level expression of foreign genes in S. cerevisiae is the result of a numberof optimized reactions in the cell. In this article 1 will focus on the vectors designed for efficientexpression and secretion of foreign proteins from yeast cells into the medium.
Yellow lupin (Lupinus luteus), like many other Fabaceae species, exhibits strong recalcitrance to in vitro conditions of protoplast culture, where regeneration capacity is extremely limited, and only incipient mitoses are observed. In case of the restricted morphogenetic potential of yellow lupin protoplasts, special attention should be paid to the cellular mechanisms that control gaining of totipotency in culture. These are especially; the structure and functioning of new cell wall, elements of cytoskeleton, as well as some cell components of signaling properties. Detailed investigation on these structures and their behaviour in culture conditions may contribute to the understanding and bypassing of the recalcitrance problem in yellow lupin.
Z dębów (Quercus robur) rosnących w La Garenne i Wortel (Belgia), wykazujących s)anptomyzamierania najczęściej izolowano następujące gatunki grzybów: Diplodia mutila, Fusicoccum quercus, Ophiostoma querci, Trichoderma harzianum 1 T. aureoviride. Przeprowadzono wstępne obserwacje nad właściwościami antagonistycznymi szczepów Trichoderma w stosunku do wymienionych grzybów.
Biologia molekularna i inżynieria genetyczna oprócz przyśpieszania postępu w nauce stwarzają jednocześnie szereg niebezpieczeństw i problemów natury etycznej.
Gerard Buraczewski
Zimmerman & Bromme and Schenk & Hildebrandt media with unchanged content of plantgrowth regulators in the basic medium, were used to develop the optimum conditions for efficientproduction of callus tissue of Vaccinium corymbosum var. Bluecrop. It has been determined that,of the auxins used, it was 2,4-D which has the most beneficial effect on callus tissue growth.
Zoophthora neoaphidis (Remaud, et Henneb.) Balazy is the most importantand the most frequently causing epizootics of aphids fungal species among allspecies of entomopathogenic fungi from Entomophthorales appearing in North--Western Poland
