Abstract:

Different methods of biological denitrification of drinking water as well as the microbiologyand stoichiometry of the process are reviewed. Autotrophic bacteria oxidizing inorganic compounds or heterotrophic species oxidizing organic materials can perform denitrification. This paperreviews the various techniques to determine the advantages and disadvantages of this approach.
