Abstract:

Possible interactions between proteins and nucleic acids which might contribute to generaleffectivity of plant genetic transformation systems are reviewed. Experimental data concerningdirect and A. tumefaciens - based plant genetic transformation systems are compared with dataobtained from research on nucleocytoplasmic exchange mechanisms of biopolimers. In that context, mechanisms of hnRNA interactions with hnRNP appear to be of great importance. Thistype of interactions is determined by conservative nucleic acids binding domains of many cellularproteins e.g. RGG and RED. These proteins seem to play an important role in the integrationof many other cellular processes.
