Jabłoń południowochińska naturalnie występuje w południowej części Chin. Zaliczana jest do grupy jabłoni ozdobnych. Kwitnie wcześnie (w kwietniu) i obficie. Jej kwiaty są różowe i delikatnie pachnące. Rozwijające się liście wiosną są czerwonawe. Do Kórnika po raz pierwszy sprowadzona została w 1937 roku.
