 abstract={The article discusses the legal foundations and evolution of the National Guard. It begins with the decree from the Governing Commission on the “Establishment of the National Guard in Warsaw,” dated 24 April 1807, followed by another decree of 22 June of the same year. The analysis then explores subsequent legal acts, including the 1811 reform mentioned in the title, which aimed to transform the National Guard by initiating its professionalisation. The article also presents the results of a survey sent to the prefects of four cities: Warsaw, Łomża, Bydgoszcz, and Poznań.},
