He began his work under the conditions of the maturing Polish-German agreement. He lived to see the signing of the 1934 Declaration of Nonviolence and the crisis that resulted in the invasion of Poland in 1939. During a brief thaw in the Polish-German relations, as the only Polish journalist, he was to conduct an interview with Adolf Hitler (which years later turned out to be a mystifi cation). His texts were always faithful to the course set by Foreign Minister Józef Beck, to whom he owed his position. Before 1934, he repeatedly wrote unfl atteringly about the actions of the National Socia-lists. During the detente period, he tried to limit his criticism as much as possible. Even before the German withdrawal from the non-aggression pact with Poland in April 1939 and Beck’s May speech in the Polish parliament, he adjusted his rhetoric and wrote in a strongly pompous tone.}, title={Stosunki polsko-niemieckie i Trzecia Rzesza w świetle korespondencji berlińskich Kazimierza Smogorzewskiego dla „Gazety Polskiej” (1933–1939) – wybrane aspekty}, type={Text}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/ihpan/Content/245338/WA303_282025_A507-DN-R-57-1_Adamczyk.pdf}, volume={57}, number={1}, journal={Dzieje Najnowsze : [kwartalnik poświęcony historii XX wieku]}, publisher={Instytut Historii PAN}, keywords={Smogorzewski, Kazimierz (1896-1992), German-Polish relations, Gazeta Polska, correspondent, Third Reich, Germany - foreign public opinion, Polish, Germany - foreign relations - Poland -1918-1939, Poland - foreign relations - Germany - 1918-1939}, }
