 abstract={In June 1940, the Soviet security apparatus took over the assets of the Lithuanian State Security Police or VSP (Lithuanian: Valstybės saugumo policija). The People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs (NKVD) of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, established shortly thereafter, absorber part of the personel of the Vilnius District VSP, seized its documents and prisoners, and recruited some of its agents.The NKVD soon effectively used these resources to fight the Polish underground in the Vilnius region, the core of which was the Vilnius District of the Union of Armed Struggle (ZWZ).},
