 abstract={The aim of this article is to reconstruct the course of events related to the appointment of Bishop Stefan Wyszyński as Primate of Poland in 1948. The source material for this text consists primarily of little-known archival documents found in the Historical Archives of the Secretariat of State in the Vatican, supplemented by archival materials from the Archdiocesan Archives in Gniezno. The article describes the chronology and the course of events related to the appointment of the new Primate of Poland, who then led the Church in Poland for almost 33 years. At the same time (using studies that were available), it attempts to organise the existing knowledge on this subject.},
