Abstract:
The author claims that in the history of post-war Poland, not only the letters written by public figures, which were evidence of the birth and development of the political opposition, played a significant role. It resembles letters of complaint written by “ordinary people” whose names have not gone down in history. It turned out, however, that their correspondence, sent to the authorities, contributed to changes not only in their local everyday life, but also a much wider reality. To prove this, the author refers to three examples: complaints about collectivization from Gryfice poviat in 1951, on the new administrative division of the village from 1972–1973 and on abuses in production and meat trade in the 1960s.
